  1. What do you know now that you didn’t know prior to starting this course?

I have learned about the different phases of the practical inquiry model and that the 3rd phase (Integration), which will be my primary role as I will be supervising practicum, is considered to be “the most difficult to detect from a teaching or research perspective” (Garrison, Anderson, and Archer).

2. What would you like to explore on the topic of cognitive presence?

Since this research identify’s the integration phase as being the most difficult, I would like to explore ways in which other teachers are navigating this with their students.  My sense is that my background as a clinical counsellor will be a strength since “diagnosing misconceptions and providing probing questions and comments” comes quite naturally to me (Garrison, Anderson, and Archer).
